ISRAEL TRUCE WITH HAMAS
 
Israel has agreed to an Egyptian brokered truce with the Palestinian group Hamas in the Gaza Strip. A senior Hamas official said the ceasefire would last six months. The truce aims at halting rocket and mortar attacks on Israel from the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip. In return, Israel is to stop raids in the territory. CO-ED SWIMMING LESSONS IN GERMANY
 

A Muslim girl cannot skip co-ed swimming lessons because of religious prohibitions against wearing formfitting clothing, a German court ruled. The ruling means the 12-year-old girl must participate in swimming lessons starting next week. ISLAMIC ARTEFACTS ON DISPLAY IN SHARJAH
 
About 5,000 priceless Islamic artefacts went on display at the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilisation, the first of its kind in the UAE. AMERICA'S NEGATIVE IMAGE IN MUSLIM WORLD
 
The image of the United States remains overwhelmingly negative in most of the predominantly Muslim countries surveyed, a latest global poll revealed on its website. According to the Pew Global Attitudes Project, in Jordan, one of the key regional allies of the United States, 79 per cent respondents have a negative light of the world power.
