TERROR E-MAIL WAS MEANT TO PROVOKE HINDU HATRED

The Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali, on September 24 said the recently published version of the e-mail reportedly sent by the ‘Indian Mujahideen’ owning responsibility for the bomb blasts in Ahmedabad and New Delhi was meant to incite the emotions of Hindus against Islam and Muslims in general. The Nawab, in a statement, said a simple reading of the e-mail would prima facie establish that it was calculated to provoke Hindu hatred against Muslims. It was certainly not m... More

It is a vacuum felt day after day in the battle against terrorism – like last month in a night-time raid on a north Mumbai neighbourhood. Dozens of police officers swooped on the maze of narrow lanes, looking for a top terror suspect, as residents watched terrified from half-open windows. Police had information that Abd... More

NO PLACE FOR TADA OR POTA, SAYS GILL

Former DGP of Punjab Police KPS Gill, who firmly tackled terrorism in Punjab, says that there is no place in society for laws like the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act (TADA) or the Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) as these had immense scope for misuse.
In an interview with The Sunday Tribune (September 21), Gill said, “There is absolutely no room for laws like TADA and POTA in society. Even earlier, we had a tough time in keeping the corrupt and the unscrupulous... More
