GAZA FUNDS BY VANI MUSLIMS

In the short space of two weeks, Persatuan Vani Muslim Malaysia collected RM10,000 for the NSTP Fund for Gaza. The association, set up in 2004, is made up of 200 families whose forefathers come from the village of Vani in southern India. President Ameer Hasha Mohd Ismail said: “We are touched by the suffering of the people in Gaza and we want to help them.” This is not the association’s first fund-raising effort. Ameer said they had previously collected money for flood victims in Johor and to support several orphanages. So far, RM5 million from the Gaza fund has been handed to the Wisma Putra Palestine Humanitarian Fund to aid the people and the rehabilitation of the Gaza Strip after the Israeli attack. Another RM500,000 has been given to Mercy Malaysia to buy medicines and equipment.
