BHOPAL GAS TRAGEDY VICTIMS SEEK MORE COMPENSATION
 
Stating that the Bhopal gas tragedy victims have not been paid adequate compensation even after 25 years of the world’s worst industrial disaster, Bhopal Gas Peedit Mahila Udhyog Sangathan (BGPMUS) on November 22 sought more compensation from the centre. “The Centre should step in and make available funds to adequately compensate the Bhopal gas tragedy victims,” BGPMUS convener Abdul Jabbar told reporters. BHAGALPUR RIOT VICTIMS GET RELIEF
 
Twenty years after Bhagalpur riots, 844 families are finally going to get compensation. A total of Rs 29.54 crore, Rs 3.5 lakh for each victim will be distributed among hundreds of families affected by more than a month-long wave of violence sparked by the campaign for the Babri Masjid – Ram temple at Ayodhya. 17 SENA ACTIVISTS HELD FOR ATTACK ON IBN LOKMAT
 
Seventeen Shiv Sena activists have been arrested in Mumbai and six in Pune for attacking journalists and damaging property at offices of Marathi news channel IBN Lokmat in Vikhroli and Pune. The agitating students of Aligarh Muslim University on November 26 called off their dharna at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi and decided to withdraw their month-long agitation. They were protesting over the murder of a student, Shanawaz Alam on October 25, 2009.
