Shaikh challenged the lower court order and sought punitive action against the accused. The metropolitan court took eight long years to reject Shaikh’s complaint. Sheikh, a resident of Dariapur, had filed the application in October 2002, and the magisterial court rejected it in 2010. Shaikh had based his complaint against Modi and Mehta on a verdict by the Supreme Court, which held bandh calls unconstitutional and illegal.
