All-India Milli Council general secretary M. Manzoor Alam wrote to Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram protesting against harassment and religious profiling of Muslim youth. CHARGES IN BABRI CASE TO BE FRAMED ON JULY 13
 
A local court in Lucknow, hearing the Babri Masjid demolition case, fixed July 13 as date for framing of charges on remaining 23 persons out of the 49 total accused in the offence. Among these, 15 were present before the court on June 29 and exemption applications were moved on behalf of six other accused as they could not present before the court. WAKF ACT TO GET AMENDMENT
 
“Some people have been using and misusing Wakf properties. The current Wakf Act seems to fail in fulfilling the needs for which it was formed. Hence the government is planning to amend the Wakf Act to stop illegal occupation,” said Salman Khursheed, Minister of Minority Affairs, while addressing a conference held under the aegis of Tasweer-e-Hind Foundation in New Delhi on June 28. Muslim Reservation Front once again demanded reservation for Muslims referring to Justice Ranganath Mishra Commission report which recommended 10 per cent reservation for Muslims in education and government sectors. 1 ARRESTED FOR HOAX CALL IN JAMA MASJID
 
Delhi police have arrested a Banaras Hindu University student, named Vishal, for hoax call. Vishal rang up the police control number and claimed that he had placed a bomb in the Jama Masjid, New Delhi, which might burst at 11 p.m. The accused, 22, belongs to Muzaffar Nagar of Uttar Pradesh.
