“Sachar Committee has indicated in his report that Muslim leadership is also responsible for the backwardness of Muslims in India. If a Muslim or Christian changes his/her religion to accept Hinduism and falls in the category of Scheduled Caste i.e. Datil community, he/she can get reservation but if a Dalit Hindu accepts Islam or Christianity he/she cannot get reservation after changing his or her religion. No voice has been raised even after 63 years of independence by Muslim leadership against this dual and biased reservation policy of India,” said Mr. K. Rahman Khan, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha. He was speaking at a National Convention on “Rights of Muslim Minority”. Mr. Rahman said in the light of Ranghanath Mishra Commission and Sachar Committee Reports Muslims should get reservation constitutionally and democratically. The country cannot develop ignoring 14% of his population. CPIM leader Mrs. Brinda Karat, Parkash Karat, M. Salim and Subhashni Ali were also present. The programme was organised in Delhi by in configuration of NGOs of three cities, Democratic Forum for National Integration (Kolkata), Muslim’s Intelligentsia Forum (Delhi) and Aawaz (Hyderabad).
