On the occasion of Eid-ul-Zuha, several Muslims in Kishorpura area wore black bands during namaaz to protest against the Rajasthan government’s negligence of issues relating to the minority community. They wore black strips around their arms, local Muslim scholar Anwar Ahemad said. “This was done to show their displeasure over the government’s apathy towards issues pertaining to minorities, which was evident in the way the recent violence in Gopalgarh was handled,” he said. The Gehlot government till now has not taken any action against the perpetrators of violence and the affected Muslims of the area are still waiting for justice. The government’s uncouth attitude towards minorities is not new; in fact there is a long list of places like Gopalgarh where the horrific incidents have taken place earlier. Modak, Sarwad, Shareef, Manoharthana, Sarada, etc. are the places that have witnessed the brutality of crime and the negligent attitude of the government. It must be remembered that ten Muslims were killed in the Gopalgarh incident which took place on Sep 14. The incident witnessed violent clashes between Meo Muslims and Gujjars over a piece of land, followed by police firing. So far not a single arrest has taken place.
