Dates contain enormous benefits for the human body and are replete with natural fibres, along with several vitamins and minerals. These include calcium, iron, manganese, phosphorous, potassium as well as Vitamin A and B variants. It is said that taking one date a day helps you in keeping the eyes healthy for the lifetime. It is also said that the consumption of one date a day is necessary for the balanced and healthy diet. Dates are also found to be very effective in preventing the problems of night blindness. It is seen that dates flood the markets during the holy month of Ramadhan, when the Muslims fast. Following the tradition of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), we break our fast with dates, however, scientifically, dates help in avoiding overeating of food after the fast as when the body absorbs the nutritional value of the dates, the hunger gets pacified.

Dates are cholesterol free and contain very little fat and are instrumental in strengthening tooth enamel as they contain fluorine which helps to protect against cavities. Fluorine also helps in limiting plaque. Dates have been found beneficial in preventing abdominal cancer as they work as tonic for all ages and get easily digested and supply the needed energy to the body. Because of the laxative property dates come handy and beneficial for the people suffering from constipation. Dates also contain some nicotinic content which makes it beneficial in curing any kind of intestinal disorders. Dates are also beneficial in strengthening of the hearts. If taken twice, they help in fortifying the heart. Dates help in digestion and prevent diseases like anaemia as it is a rich source of amino acids as well as iron. Dates are great energy boosters as they contain natural sugars like glucose, sucrose and fructose. To get more advantage dates are taken with milk. Dates are very low in calories and are extremely suitable for health conscious people. As dates are rich in potassium and reduced in sodium, it helps in regulating a healthy nervous system. Researches have revealed the fact that potassium intake up to a certain extent can reduce risk of stroke. Dates also help in lowering of the LDL cholesterol. Dates help in weight gain and are beneficial for those who suffer from over slimming problem. Dates are also excellent for alcoholic intoxication.
