Fenugreek is one of the most readily available herbs replete with plenty of health benefits. Fenugreek is called Methi in Urdu/Hindi and is very rich in protein, calcium, phosphorus, iron and contains high amount of minerals and vitamins as well. The chemical composition of Methi seeds depicts that it contains proteins and Amino acids in ratios comparable to milk. Fenugreek is rich in Lecithin, an important nutrient, which helps in increasing the memory or retention power of brain. The best part of Methi seeds is that the side effects related to it are very uncommon. It is very effective in treating stomach disorders and its consumption removes fatigue and tiredness as well, as it is a good source of iron and vitamin B-complex.

One of the major benefits of Methi is that it helps reduce glucose level in blood and urine. Methi seeds contain an amino acid which starts the production of insulin in the body which in turn helps in lowering the level of blood sugar. Chewing the seeds after soaking them overnight significantly lowers the level of glucose in the blood. Methi powder can be used to avoid the Type 2 diabetes as it aids in controlling the metabolism of glucose in the body. With the ever rising numbers of diabetics, a simple consumption of Methi seeds can work wonders in bringing the sugar level under normal limits. The best way to consume it is to let the seeds sprout then dry them up and then powder them and include in the diet.

It also reduces the content of cholesterol from the body.

Obese people can also include Methi in their diets as its high fibre content is very efficient and effective in reducing body weight. It is a very good appetiser as well and hence often used to treat anorexia.

A paste of Fenugreek leaves applied over the face over night before going to bed could help in preventing pimples, dryness, rashes and wrinkles. As Methi seeds help in maintaining good metabolism, it prevents constipation and purifies blood by removing all the harmful toxins out of the body and improves digestion.

It also comes handy in treating baldness and hair fall. Methi seeds when boiled and soaked in coconut oil can work wonders and prevents hair fall, removes dandruff and strengthens hair.
