Terming the obnoxious movements in support of homosexuality as immoral and unnatural, Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has vehemently condemned it and demanded from the Indian government that it should not present before the Supreme Court its views against the culture, modesty and tradition of the country.
Maulana Umari said changing the stand on homosexuality by bringing in the point of freedom of individuals is sad. He said religion and society have always placed limits on actions and thoughts of individuals and religion has some special measures for it. Islam provides clear-cut teachings on this subject and prohibits total liberty and orders its followers to refrain from it. Hence the government, instead of listening to some dissenters and mavericks, should give consideration to the demands of the majority and present clear-cut direction to the Supreme Court in order to save the country from a big evil.
The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) and Apostolic Churches Alliance have also echoed the same thoughts.
