Amla is one of the most sought after herbs that are used for prevention against aging. It helps in improving the functions of our body organs and is a rich source of vitamin C; it contains as high as 20 times vitamin C that an orange has. Amla is also one of the most widely used herbs in ayurvedic medicines and it has been proven as antioxidant, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-mutagenic, yeast inhibiting, nematicidal, anabolic, anti-hepatoxic, anti-hyperhidrosis, anti-inflammatory, anti-histaminic, anti-spasmodic, hypolipidemic, and hypotensive relieving.

It has got tremendous healing and medicinal properties and its regular intake is an antidote for many ailments or disorders like acidity, septic fever, biliary colic, vomiting, insomnia, defective vision, etc. It is widely used in making jams, pickles, chutneys, etc. Chyavanprash is also made from Amla only. It improves eyesight and various other minor problems of eyes like itching, reddening or watering of eyes. It shows remarkable results when it comes to skin cure. It has sheet virya in abundance which in turn inhibits pitta and provides relief from all the skin disorders caused by pitta dominance. Regular intake of Amla promotes glow on skin and delays wrinkles or loosening of skin. 

Amla paste is touted as an excellent hair conditioner which makes hair glossy and silky.  It stimulates hair follicles thus promoting hair growth and also improves texture of the hair. It also prevents premature greying of hairs and dandruff. It is also very useful in controlling blood sugar level. A mixture of amla, bitter gourd and jamun, when taken twice or thrice a day, substantially controls the level of blood sugar.

Besides being a cure for many of the major diseases, amla has innumerable benefits for minor fatigues or health problems that we face in our day today life. Fresh amla juice dispels the weakness of body, spirit and mind and strengthens the body by removing toxins from our body and improves the immune system. It is a very powerful food for brain and is a very influential anti-inflammatory herb. It cleanses the maw and strengthens the teeth and stimulates the functioning of liver. It helps in reducing cholesterol levels and is widely used as a cure for cough, bronchitis and asthma. It helps in removing the impurities from the blood and is very influential in checking piles. Constipation, jaundice and lice in hair are commonly cured by taking this exceptional herb.
