The massive protest at the famous Tahrir Square in Egypt, called by the Muslim Brotherhood and Justice Party to end the military rule after the fall of then President Hosni Mubarak’s 30-year long dictatorial rule on May 4, was impressive. It is good to see people standing against the dictatorial and corrupt governments in the Arab world ruled by dictators with iron hand.
Elections should be held and civilian government must be formed at the earliest. Islam allows people should elect a leader and he should apply the Shari’ah as the source of governance. We have to see who wins the elections and form the government. If people want a shift from dictatorship and want democracy in which people will make laws then all the effort and pain taken by people will be go in waste. Only when the elected party applies the Shari’ah in governance, the country would start coming from darkness to light.
