CONGRESS TREATS MINORITIES AS ‘VOTE BANKS,’ NEGLECTS THEIR POLITICO-SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: TDP

The opposition TDP on May 26 contended that the ruling Congress had been treating the minorities as mere vote bank since Independence and neglecting their socio-economic and political development. Addressing a press conference, TDP State Secretary Yunus Akbani, TDP Charminar assembly constituency in-charge Ali Masquati said the reports of the Rajinder Sachar Committee and the Ranganath Misra Commission which had been gathering dust, pointed out to the backwardness of the community. They said the party had realised that it was a ‘‘mistake’’ to join hands with the BJP in the past, they said ‘‘we stand guarantee that the party will not repeat it in the future’’.
