Ban Parties Causing Traffic Disruption

It refers to the Supreme Court asking Union government if political parties involved in blocking roads and/or rail traffic during public agitations can be derecognised. Suggestions from Union government as presented in the Apex Court will be of no practical use because police and bureaucrats entrusted for smooth traffic during politically supported agitations, are simply helpless before politicians. Even at time of ‘compromise’ with agitators, all cases filed against agitators are withdrawn like some tradition.

The sword of being derecognised by constitutional functionaries like Election Commission without any interference from government is the real practical remedy mooted by the Supreme Court, and can be of great public interest if becomes direction of the Supreme Court.
