Egypt’s President Mohamed Morsi is right in issuing presidential declaration to dismiss Mubarak-era public prosecutor and protect the panel responsible for drafting of the national charter. His move is very much positive and revolutionary. By issuing this declaration, President Morsi has also kept the promise made during the revolution days that fresh trial against those responsible for killing the revolutionaries would be initiated. As for dismissing the public prosecutor, we know that Abdel-Meguid Mahmoud has long defended the toppled regime of Hosni Mubarak and sought to corrupt the judiciary and to create a justice system rotten to the core. His dismissal is in the greater interest of post-revolution Egypt.
