WHY PROPERTIES NOT RETURNED TO WAKF BOARD: HC TO GOVT.

Inside India

The Delhi High Court on 23 January reproached the government of Delhi for not returning the properties of Wakf Board and ordered it to give back the same at its earliest. The court had ordered the Government of Delhi on 14 January 2011 to return 123 pieces of land to the Waqf Board and vacate the makeshifts from its land in Nizamuddin area. Mohammad Sajid, counsel of the petitioner in the case, said there were no makeshifts before 2007 and as of now it has more than 250 which are hubs of illegal activities. He said the government seemed not taking the matter seriously and the number of makeshifts is increasing by day.
