SIX POLICEMEN SUSPENDED IN CONNECTION WITH DHULE RIOTS

Inside India

The State Reserve Police Force, on 8 February, suspended two more police officials for allegedly looting and attacking some stalls installed on the roadside during the communal riots in Dhule, Maharashtra, taking the total number of suspended police personnel to 6. Their suspension came after the duo was detected in the video footage showing some men in uniform ransacking some stalls and harming public property. Earlier, the SRPF has suspended four personnel on the same ground. All the six suspended personnel have been arrested while another has committed suicide to escape the punitive action against him. This is the first case of its kind where police personnel have been caught red-handed attacking the shops in a riot hit area.
