ONE MORE ARRESTED IN AJMER BLAST

Inside India

The National Investigation Agency, on 7 March, arrested Mehul alias Mafat Lal for his alleged role in Ajmer Dargah blast on 11 October 2011, which resulted in death of at least 3 people and left more than a dozen others injured. Mehul was also wanted in the Best Bakery blast as well as in Godhra incident where he was accused of throwing pipe bombs in a mosque in Bharuch.

Earlier, the lower court had acquitted him but the trial restarted on the direction of Apex Court as the accused was learnt to have influenced the witnesses. At the time of re-trial Mehul, along with his three other complicit—Solanki, Jayanti and Mohan—took shelter with Sunil Joshi who was the alleged handler of Malegaon blast, Mecca Masjid blast, Samjhauta blast and others. All four disappeared after mysterious murder of Joshi in December 2007.

Two other accused of the Ajmer blast—Bhavesh Patel and Mukesh Vasani—have already been apprehended while their complicit in Ajmer – Mukesh and Bhavesh—are still on stretch.
