Budget a Lolly Pop for Minorities

Readers Pulse

Read the Budget Focus Issue of the Radiance (10-16 March). The fund allocation for minorities who number around 19 per cent of the total population of the country is objectionably low. How the government, which claims to be the promoter of Muslim talents, can justify the 0.21% fund for them. Sachar Committee report states that the Muslims are more backward than Scheduled Casts and Tribes and they need support at every level. But the UPA government does not seem abstaining from its hypocritical policies. The SCs and STs who are approximately 19 per cent of the population have been allocated around 4 per cent of the total budget. On the other hand, the Muslims who are also equal to them in terms of population have been given a lolly pop in the name of their development. The Muslims should move forward to get their rights and rely upon none.
