President Morsi Meets Muslim Representatives in New Delhi

Cover Story

By OUR STAFF REPORTER

Representatives of some Muslim organisations in India called on Egypt’s President Mohamed Morsi at Hotel Sheraton in New Delhi on 19 March. They expressed the hope that the formal visit by the first democratically elected President of Egypt to India would deepen the bilateral relationship between India and Egypt and go in favour of the citizens of the two countries. The Muslim representatives introduced to President Morsi their endeavours to preach the pristine message of Islam to the fellow citizens as well as their active participation in the development of the country. They urged President Morsi to work for the betterment of not only Egypt but the Muslim world as a whole as well as for the establishment of world peace.

President Morsi, in his brief address to the Indian Muslim leaders, said the Muslims are supposed to be ideal in every walk of life. He laid stress on educating the younger generation and teaching them better moral values. President Morsi reminded the Muslim representatives that Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be to him) brought in a moral revolution through the invigorating message of Islam and his ideal behaviour.

President Morsi expressed his concern over the disquieting situations prevailing in Syria, Palestine and Bangladesh.

President Morsi urged the Indian Muslims, whose population is next only to that in Indonesia, to come forward to serve the world, especially the Muslim world. He said with a sense of happiness that the Muslims are getting better in the field of education.

Mr. Ejaz Ahmed Aslam informed President Morsi that the books of Hasan al Banna Shaheed, Syed Qutb Shaheed, Mohammad al Ghazhali and Yousuf al Qaradhawi have been translated not only into the largest language of the Muslims, Urdu, but also in other languages and Indian Muslims know their thought.

President Morsi appreciated the endeavours of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind and Darul Uloom, Deoband, for their service to the community. He also valued the activities of Jamiat Ahle Hadees and others.

Indian Muslim leaders meeting President Morsi included Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari, Secretary JIH Ejaz Ahmed Aslam, President Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind Maulana Arshad Madani, General Secretary Jamiat Ahle Hadees Maulana Asghar Ali Imam Mahdi, Imam Shahi Masjid Fatehpuri Maulana Mufti Muhammad Mukarram Ahmed, Mr. Abul Hayat Ashraf and Maulana Rizwan Rafeequi.
