PROF. SAUD ALAM QASMI BAGS ABUL HASAN ALI NADWI AWARD

Prof. M. Saud Alam Qasmi, Dean Faculty of Theology, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh was honoured with the Maulana Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi Award. The award was given to him by Justice Markandey Katju, Chairman Press Council of India, at a programme held by the Islamic Social and Cultural Foundation, Bhiwandi, Maharashtra on 2 April. Prof. Qasmi was honoured for his educational services to the community.

In his acceptance speech, Prof. Qasmi said the ‘Unity in Diversity’ is the need of the country and promotion of diverse cultures is necessary for maintaining the democratic character of the country. Justice Katju said that the objectives of national integrity could be achieved only by protection of interests and dignity of all communities.

On the occasion, the Foundation organised a conference on “Unity in Diversity” which was attended by a large panel of scholars and journalists such as Justice Katju, Kumar Ketkar, Gurdayal Singh, Maulana Salman Nadvi, Shamim Tarique, Mushtaque Ahmad Advocate, etc.
