LOKAYUKTA REFUSES TO WORK WITH MODI ADMINISTRATION
 

Justice (Rtd) R A Mehta, who was appointed Lokayukta of Gujarat, on 7 August refused to take charge of the post in the state. The decision comes as a major embarrassment for the Gujarat government who had challenged his appointment in the Supreme Court after the Gujarat High Court had upheld the decision. Bangalore is witnessing a sharp rise in cases of discord in live-in relationships. Kalimpong GJM core committee member Shekhar Sharma has been arrested in connection with old cases registered against him as the indefinite shut down in Darjeeling hills entered ninth day on 11 August.
