spy on Muslims
 

A document by the British Education Ministry asks lecturers and university staff across Britain to spy on Muslim students on suspicious involvement in "extremist" activities, the Guardian reported on October 16.

UK minister wants veiled

British Local Government and Community Cohesion Minister Phil Woolas on October 15 stressed that a Muslim teaching assistant should be sacked from her job for refusing to remove face veil in front of men.

France adopts Armenia genocide bill
 

France’s lower house of parliament has passed a bill making it a crime to deny the Armenian genocide, a step that has been strongly denounced by the Turkish government.

Introduced by France’s socialist opposition, the draft law would make it a crime to deny that the 1915-1917 massacres of an estimated 1.2 million Christian Armenians by Ottoman Turks were an act of genocide.

UK army chief calls for Iraq pullout
 

Britain’s top army commander has said the UK military presence in Iraq was exacerbating the security problems, calling for British withdrawal "sometimes soon" from the occupied Arab country.

"We are in a Muslim country and Muslims’ views of foreigners in their country are quite clear," General Richard Dannatt, chief of the general staff, said in an interview with The Daily Mail on October 13.
