AP TO PROMULGATE ORDINANCE FOR MUSLIM RESERVATION
 

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy said an ordinance would be promulgated within a month to provide five per cent reservation for Muslims in education and employment.

Participating in the distribution of computers to madrasas, organised by the state Urdu Academy in Hyderabad on June 9, Dr Reddy said the government would overcome all legal hurdles in a month for providing reservation for the Muslims as the issue was pending in the Supreme Court.

FAKE ENCOUNTER ACCUSED DSP AMIN GRANTED BAIL
 

A Sessions Court in Ahmedabad on June 9 granted anticipatory bail to a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), N K Amin alleged to be involved in the sensational Sohrabuddin Sheikh staged encounter case. Amin, who had not been responding to the summons by the CID, however has been asked to report to the Central Investigation Department (CID) within three days. URDU REPRESENTS INDIA'S COMPOSITE CULTURE
 

Urdu is most often considered the language of Muslims. But the participants at the all-India conference of State Urdu academies, organised by the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) say no to this erroneous concept. Imams and Muazzins took to the streets in Bhubaneswar on June 7 demanding monthly allowance. Staging a demonstration near the State Assembly, hundreds of Imams and Muazzins called upon the Government to direct the Wakf Board to extend the emolument to them immediately.
