I am surprised by Soroor Ahmed's inability to distinguish between elected posts of President, Vice-President and recruitment to public employment (Radiance, 29 July-4 August 2007 pp. 18-19). I agree with him that the representation of Muslims in legislatures is disproportionately low. Why Double Standards?
 

The judgments delivered in the cases related to Mumbai blasts 1993 are now complete. The guilty of the crimes have been punished. Most of those punished spoke their hearts out by saying that though they are being punished, those who were involved in the 1992-93 riots have gone scot-free. Why Double Standards?
 

More than 900 were killed and thousands were injured in anti-Muslim riots of 1992-93 in Mumbai. Justice Srikrishna boldly named the people responsible for the dance of death and destruction. He also criticised and condemned the Mumbai Police Force and named 15 police officers and 16 constables of the city for abetting rioters in killing Muslims.

It refers to Union Information & Broadcasting Ministry resisting right approach of Union Health Ministry to impose a ban on cola-advertisements. It is unfortunate that in India, lust for revenue by the government make commoners suffer from diseases caused by harmful products.
