Why Double Standards?

The judgments delivered in the cases related to Mumbai blasts 1993 are now complete. The guilty of the crimes have been punished. Most of those punished spoke their hearts out by saying that though they are being punished, those who were involved in the 1992-93 riots have gone scot-free. Srikrishna Commission formed in the aftermath of these riots had done a marvellous work in identifying the guilty of the crimes. One remembers that Shiv Sena first stopped this commission half way and then rejected its report on the grounds that it is anti-Hindu report. The Congress coalition which came to power after that did commit to take action as per the Commissions report. Despite years of being in power it has done precious nothing in the direction, showing its opportunist communal colour. While Shiv Sena-BJP were directly involved in the carnage, the ruling Congress has neither the spine nor the principles to uphold justice. The Srikrishna Commission Report indicted Shiv Sena leaders and many police officers for being guilty. The present government has failed to do justice to riot victims. Should one infer that we are already having two sets of justice system, one for the aggressive majoritarian criminals, who effectively are enjoying immunity and the other for the battered minority, for whom justice is impossible to get?
