Why Double Standards?

June 6, 2010

More than 900 were killed and thousands were injured in anti-Muslim riots of 1992-93 in Mumbai. Justice Srikrishna boldly named the people responsible for the dance of death and destruction. He also criticised and condemned the Mumbai Police Force and named 15 police officers and 16 constables of the city for abetting rioters in killing Muslims.

The criminals of March 1993 Mumbai bomb-blasts have been awarded death sentence, life imprisonment, etc. by the Tada Court while the criminals of Babri Masjid demolition and culprits of 1992-93 anti-Muslim Mumbai riots are at large. Why double standards? Is it not an insult to the Constitution and judiciary? Justice delayed is no doubt justice denied. To keep people's confidence in judiciary, the sooner the criminals are punished the better. It is high time the government implemented the recommendations of Justice Srikrishna Commission.
