FORMER MP ANAND MOHAN GETS DEATH SENTENCE
 
A former MP and JD(U) leader Anand Mohan was sentenced to death by a local court in Patna which also awarded life imprisonment to his wife, also an ex-MP, on October 3 in a murder case where the then Gopalganj District Magistrate was lynched by a mob 13 years back.

SC URGED TO DIRECT GOVT TO IMPLEMENT SRIKRISHNA PANEL REPORT
 
Gulzar Aazmi, leader of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, Arif Naseem Khan, Ex-Minister of Maharashtra and Advocate Nafees Siddiqui filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court demanding implementation of Srikrishna Commission Report.

GOAN JAIL PROVIDES SEHR/IFTAR
 
Acting on the request of the inmates of the Aguada Jail, Goa for Saher and Iftar arrangement during the holy month of Ramadhan, delegates of Ahle Sunnatul Jamaat paid a visit to the Collector and the Superintendent of the Jail with a petition to grant permission to supply food for Sehr and Iftar.

RAMADHAN RECESS AT CPM MEET
 
The muezzin’s prayer call broke up the Lanthaparambu branch committee meeting of the CPM in Kochi on October 1, and Muslim members dispersed to pray and break their Ramadhan fast with refreshments served up by the party, which sees religion as the opium of the masses.
Reports said the organisers announced the recess over microphone as soon as they heard the muezzin’s call from a nearby mosque. The meeting was being held at Regent Hotel Hall.
