PAK OPPOSITION DECRIES FARCE POLLS
 
Pakistan’s opposition parties believe that any general elections under the enforced emergency rule will be nothing short of a “farce,” hinting at boycott. “Without lifting the state of emergency and restoring the constitution, elections will be a farce and an attempt to hoodwink the international community,” Qazi Hussain Ahmad, the President of the powerful six-party religious alliance, Muttehida Majlis-e-Amal, reportedly said.

ITALIAN MUSLIMS CALL FOR LOVE
 
More than 3,000 Muslims gathered earlier this week in Milan’s Palalido stadium to send a message of love and fraternity to the wider society. “We sent reassurances to fellow Italians that Islam is a religion of love,” Mostafa El-Beltaguei, the director of the human resources department at Islamic Relief ‘s Italy chapter, reportedly said.

Egyptian Coptic business tycoon Naguib Sawiris was in firing line on November 10, after unveiling plans to launch two satellite channels to confront the “growing Islamisation” of Egyptian society amid Muslim threats to boycott his products, reports IslamOnline.net.

2007 BLOODIEST FOR US IN AFGHANISTAN, IRAQ
 
The year 2007 has proved the deadliest for the US forces in Afghanistan since the 2001 invasion. An American soldier died, on November 11, of wounds he sustained in an earlier battle with Taliban fighters, according to icasualities.org, an independent website that monitors US military deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan. This brought to 109 the American military toll this year.
